A recent article in New York Times titled "Honorific Streets, Now Cataloged" by Sam Roberts introduces New Yorkers to a friend of mine. Gil Tauber. I met him about a year ago at one of my favorite activities. Every Wednesday a group of New Yorkers go for a historical tour of our city. It is guided by Jim Mackin of Weekday Walks. If you want a great two hour walk, learn a great deal about New York, and the surrounding communities, you need to check out Jim's website.

Let me not digress any further, Gil has been another great source of information about New York. I have gone to him when I have a question about the city and its streets. His website is one that you should check out if you are interested in the naming of streets in New York. He has one of the most comprehensive website about honorific or secondary street names. Click here to visit his website and learn more about what he is doing.
