The streets of New York are alive with residents and tourists for the holiday season. One of the major attractions in the city is the Radio City Music Hall Christmas spectacular. I can say that I have seen it more than 15 times, when I first moved here, when family and friends visited and when I wanted to get into the Christmas spirit. It does bring a smile to your face and a uplifts your spirit.

This year instead of going to see the spectacular, I thought that I would tour this great art deco building. From the moment one enters the elevator with its deco motif that transported you to another time and place.

The tour began on the second level where the view of their Swarovski crystal tree hangs over the head of the audience. What a unique tree? It took your breath away.

As the docent guided us to various locations, we saw past performers pictures lining the walls. You saw Crosby, Sinatra and movie posters of films that once opened here. Nostalgia was the word of the day as we continued our tour.

The guide told us that the Great Stage has never been updated or improved. She mentioned that "it is the most perfectly equipped stages in the world" and the US Navy used this technology for ou carriers.

I do not wish to give away other secrets which we learned that afternoon, for this is an incredible tour of a historical building, a great feat in technology, and a beautiful art Deco building.
